James GibsonRear Glass Ornaments and collectables
James Gibson in the unit 12 of the New Indoor Market Hall is an enthusiastic collector of rear glass ornaments and vintage cameras. James’ focus is on collecting and selling Murano glassware – glass made in Venice, typically on the island of Murano near the city. It is made with a soda-lime “metal” and is typically elaborately decorated, with various hot glass-forming techniques, such as enamel or engraving. Production has been concentrated on the island since the 13th century. James’ Murano glass galore includes animal ornaments, tea sets and vases.
You can also find a selection of vintage cameras from 1950s and 1960s, when photography was a very popular hobby. Many people owned a basic camera, Kodak was a pioneer. At a more advanced level the 35mm film became the first choice for professionals and serious amateurs. These 35mm cameras are what James is focused on.
